Katie Breckon is an artist, educator and remote community arts worker based in the Kimberley region of north-west Australia. A trip to the Kimberley in 2007 introduced Katie to Australia's rich cultural heritage and motivated her decision to live and work in remote communities. Remoteness, the landscape, personal and community stories influence Katie's conceptual practice which utilises different mediums, commonly analogue and digital photography, printmaking, and drawing.

Katie completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Zealand before moving to Melbourne in 2005 to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Visual Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts. Katie has been a recipient of the CCP Salon, Deakin University Photographic Award, American Aperture Awards Best Still Life Award, and a finalist in the Bowness Photography Prize. Katie's artwork is held in private and public collections including the University of Western Australia, Janet Holmes a Court Collection, Artbank, Shire of Broome and the Shire of Derby West Kimberley.
